Ghost Net
An abandoned fishing net at the foot of a wall from 18 m to 3 m

Ghost Net is a wall dive on the north-east coast of Rhodes named for an abandoned fishing net lying at the foot of a stiff wall that runs from 18 m up to 3 m. H2O Diving Center runs it as a dive for advanced divers. The net has become a relic that shelters marine life in its abandoned layers, and the dive is a look at that and at the wall above it.

The dive
The wall runs from 18 m at the bottom to 3 m at the top, and the net lies on the bottom of it, so the dive goes deep first. Descend to the foot of the wall at 18 m to find the net, which H2O Diving Center describes as a relic that keeps a lot of marine life sheltering in its abandoned layers. Look, do not touch: the net is an entanglement hazard as much as a habitat, and the operator restricts the site to advanced divers.
After the net, the rest of the dive is the wall. Work up the face in stages from 18 m, using the rock for reference, and finish along the top at 3 m, which makes the safety stop part of the dive rather than a hang in open water. H2O calls it a deep dive designed for advanced divers; the depth itself is 18 m, so the rating is best read as being about the net and the wall rather than the number.

Season follows Rhodes: May to October is the season, peaking July to September; centres still run in October, charter flights stop after October, and very little is dived from November to March.
