The dive
Montilivi lies between the Rosamar beaches, and the dive begins at 20 m, so there is no shallow warm-up: the profile starts deep and the bottom is at 34 m. The catalogue recommends Nitrox for exactly that reason. What makes the depth worth it is where the site sits, on an important passage for various species, which is a different proposition from the rock and cave dives closer to town.
What comes through is the point of the dive. Sunfish — the moon fish of the listing — and tuna are the sightings the site is known for, and schools of dentex pass with them, so the time is spent watching the open water rather than searching the rock. Plan the deep section tightly, keep an eye on gas and no-decompression time at 34 m, and leave enough for a slow ascent.
