Cenote Taak Bi Ha
Seven metres of water under a ceiling of stalactites

One of the more recently opened cenotes on this coast, a few hundred metres from Dos Ojos, whose name means Hidden Road of Water in Maya. The guided cavern dive is shallow at 7 m but the passage is irregular and densely decorated, which is why operators want previous cenote experience rather than treating it as a first overhead dive.

The dive
The entry drops into a vast room already full of formations, and that sets the tone for the whole dive: this is a site about what is on the ceiling and the floor rather than about covering distance. Stalactites hang in curtains and columns run floor to ceiling through most of the passage, and the water sits at 25 °C the year round.
The guided cavern route stays around 7 m, which sounds forgiving until you are in it. The passages are irregular rather than tubular, so the space above and below changes constantly and there is rarely a comfortable margin on both at once. Operators ask for previous cenote dives here specifically because a diver still working out their trim will take formations with them.
Beyond the cavern line the system carries on toward Tikim Chi, roughly 2 km of linear passage reaching 16.2 m at its deepest with an average around 8 m. That route is cave diving, run by teams with cave training, and it is a different dive from the one a guide leads through the daylight zone.

Season follows Riviera Maya Cenotes: Divable year-round at a constant 25°C; the Nov–Apr dry season is clearest, while summer downpours can cloud shallow cenotes for a day or two.

- The passage is irregular and heavily decorated at 7 m, so a diver who sculls or drops trim damages formations and silts the route for everyone behind.
