A 50-metre cave on the Vis coast with an entrance and an exit both at 18 metres, which makes the dive a swim-through rather than a there-and-back. A thermocline and a halocline sit inside it, and at the far end, above the halocline, a pocket of air is held against the rock.

The dive
The entrance is at 18 metres and so is the exit, which is what makes this a through-dive: you go in at one end, run the 50 metres of passage and come out the other side rather than turning round inside it. That is still an overhead and it is dived as one, with a line, a light for everyone and a team small enough to keep the passage clear behind the diver in front.
Inside, the water is layered. You cross a thermocline and a halocline in the cave, and where the layers meet the view blurs and shimmers until you are through it. At the very end, above the halocline, there is a bubble of air trapped against the roof. It is a curiosity rather than a refuge, since gas in a cave pocket is nothing to breathe, and the exit is back at the same 18 metres as the entrance.

Season follows Vis: Dive season runs mid-April to mid-October; Jun–Sep gives the warmest water, near 24°C, and calmest conditions for the wreck sites.
Know before you go
- Fifty metres of passage with the only exits at either end: this is a full overhead dive, on a line, with lights and training to match.
- The halocline inside blurs vision where the layers mix, so the diver in front is easy to lose sight of exactly where you least want to.
