Grenada has more than 35 dive sites across reefs, walls and wrecks. The Bianca C, the largest wreck in the Caribbean, anchors the list, while Molinere Bay holds the Underwater Sculpture Park inside a marine protected area. Reefs such as Boss Reef, Dragon Bay and Flamingo Bay and drifts such as Grand Mal fill out the rest.
About diving in Grenada
Diving here is done from day boats. From Grand Anse Beach most sites are within a 10-minute boat ride, and boats typically run a two-tank dive in the morning and a single tank in the afternoon. When the tide is running, Happy Valley becomes a pleasant drift to Dragon Bay in a gentle, southerly current. The south and Atlantic sides are rougher: Shark Reef is exposed to the Atlantic and its strong currents, the HEMA 1 lies just over 4.8 km (3 miles) off Point Saline, and the King Mitch sits 13 km (8 miles) off the Atlantic coast, both in rough surface conditions.
Underwater the island mixes sloping reefs, walls and wrecks. Boss Reef slopes gently and is carpeted in patches of finger and pillar corals, sea rods and soft brown coral trees, with stingrays, conch and octopus in its sand patches. Molinere Bay's shallow patch reefs hold sea plumes, sea rods and hard and soft corals above a sloping wall. The wrecks carry their own growth: hard and soft corals on the Bianca C, and trumpetfish, a frogfish and banded coral shrimp on the Veronica L.
Dragon Bay works for snorkellers, beginners and advanced divers alike, and the Molinere reefs start at 3 m. The deep and exposed sites are another matter: the Bianca C suits only experienced divers because of its depth and the possibility of strong currents, and the HEMA 1, the King Mitch and Shark Reef are advanced dives. Wreck divers also have the Shake'M, a 55 m (180 ft) long freighter that capsized with its instruments, furniture, equipment and cargo intact.

2011–2025 averages. Sea surface: NOAA Coral Reef Watch, measured at the surface, so deeper water can run colder. Daytime high and rain: NASA POWER.
Boats run through the year, so no month closes the diving. The dry season stretches from December to April and brings calm water and clear visibility, which makes it the best time to go. May and June sit between the dry months and the hurricane season. The hurricane season runs from July to November, with September and October the worst months.
Best months: January, February, March, April, December
Grenada water temperature and weather by month
The sea surface runs from 27 °C (81 °F) in February to 30 °C (86 °F) in September. Most rain falls from June to December, peaking at about 180 mm (7.1 in) in November; it stays largely dry from January to April. Daytime highs sit around 29 °C (84 °F) all year. The coldest water here is about 26 °C (79 °F), so pack a 3 mm full suit.
Dive types & marine life
Turtles, eagle rays and barracuda are regular visitors at Whibbles Reef, and sightings of rays, turtles, barracuda and sharks are common on the Windmill Shallows drift. Nurse sharks, reef sharks and eagle rays live on the HEMA 1, and dozens of schooling eagle rays are known to visit the King Mitch during the migration season.

Questions divers ask
What do divers need for the Bianca C?+
Experience and usually a checkout dive. Dives run from the intact bow at 27 m (90 ft) down to the deck swimming pool, and the currents can be strong.
Is there a fee to dive the sculpture park?+
Yes. The Molinere/Beauséjour Marine Protected Area, home to the sculpture park, charges every visitor, divers included, a user fee: US$7 per person per visit from 1 October 2026, rising to US$10 from 1 October 2027.
Can beginners dive in Grenada?+
Yes. Beyond the shallow reefs, the Veronica L is an easy wreck dive in 6 to 15 m (20 to 50 ft), and the Tyrrel Bay, a retired Coast Guard vessel in 15 to 20 m (50 to 70 ft), is open to divers of all levels from the captain's quarters to the engine room.
